The one thing you want when visiting the Central African Republic?
A Good Driver!
Gabin is one of our best and has logged literally thousands of kilometers (too many to count – we asked him) during our Baseline Study. His hard work has helped us to plan out full rural water coverage for one entire region, Mambéré-Kadéï.
Since the Baseline Study has wrapped up, he has continued on as a driver for the team – and it is no easy feat to navigate the roads here! We rely heavily on these men to get both supplies and people to where they need to be.
Gabin was hired in 2017 and came to us through our friend and colleague, Marcellin Namsene, owner of Marcellin African Drilling. He grew up and still resides in Berbérati, where our water drilling base is located. He and his wife, Binta Toure, have 3 children, Dalida (22), Sandreen (20), Gatia (17).
At 51 years old, Gabin says he feels fortunate to have been able to see so much of his country driving around. Often, the people of the Central African Republic do not have the opportunity to travel far from their hometown.
