THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC IS ALSO IN THE PROCESS OF THEIR OWN ELECTION BUT THEIRS LOOKS A BIT DIFFERENT THAN OURS.

AFTER YEARS OF UNREST, the Central African Republic’s first election was held in 1993. In the Central African Republic, the presidential election is divided into two rounds and you must receive a certain amount of votes in order to move to the final round. Typically, the same people keep running for the 5-year presidential term. As you can imagine, it is hard to keep voter fraud at bay in a third world country, especially when you don’t know how many people actually live there. Unfortunately, the transfer of power isn’t always peaceful and can often lead to military takeovers.
OVER THE YEARS, there have been several successful and unsuccessful coups to overthrow the leader in charge. In 2012, a coalition of rebels were responsible for starting the Civil War which lasted until 2014. Water for Good is committed to remaining in the country during times of peace and also war. Over the past 16 years, God has protected our teams, both maintenance and drilling, as they have been able to successfully work throughout the difficult times. This is a testament to the commitment our teams have to bring clean water to their fellow Central Africans.
