Imagine watching a child take a drink of water, knowing it could make them desperately ill, but having no other choice. For 696 million people, water insecurity is a daily battle for survival.
We know that simply digging a well doesn’t solve the water crisis on its own. That water point has to be cared for with local maintenance and technical skills so it doesn’t break down.
And we have seen that safe water cannot protect a village if healthy behaviors are not also present. Without safe latrine and handwashing facilities to keep disease from spreading, the cycle of sickness continues.
